The point of The Food Road Less Traveled is essentially to collect and distribute information on excellent food and beverages that are being created, crafted, and served around the country. Ambitious? of course. Difficult? It could be. Impossible? It doesn't have to be.
This isn't a mountain to be conquered quickly. Instead, the climb will be slow and steady. Not all steps will be sure or right. Then one day well look up and see the progress we've made and how far we've climbed. It will take time and patience. Just as excellent wine needs to age and mature, or a proper Old Fashioned needs to be crafted step by step, we will need time to grow, and mature. Finding our voice won't happen instantly. And the voice we eventually end up with is unlikely to be the same voice we feel we have today.
Today's step on that path up the mountain is the addition and introduction of two great cocktail recipe links. These links can provide recipes, information, and more. First up is the Difford's Guide.

Difford's is a really cool site. The breadth and depth of information is amazing. You're able to explore seemly endless links and ideas.
There is the Cocktail Builder which let's you enter ingredients you have on hand to generate drink ideas for you. The Barware link takes you to numerous options to shop for everything you would need to set up your personal bar. There is a Cocktail Hall of Fame and a 3 Ingredient Cocktails link. Maybe you're interested in 20 Best Cocktails by Ingredient instead? Whatever you're mixological interest is, Difford's Guide can help.

I think my favorite link is The Bartender's Lounge. Here you can find a lists of Importer's & Agents, or Events & Tastings. There is also a long list of bartending and competitions from around the globe. If you've ever wanted to test your skills as a mixologist you can do it here.
My second favorite feature is Cocktail of the Day link. Each day presents a new cocktail witth the recipe, a photo, and a short history. If you miss a day you can look back. Or, if you're the impatient type, you can look ahead.
Not sure what I mean? Well, tomorrow's drink of the day is The Ramos Gin Fizz in honor Henry C. Ramos's birthday. Not sure who he is? He is the famous New Orleans bartender who invented the drink. Just a heads up, if you've never heard of A Ramos Gin Fizz, and are thinking of making one, You'll need egg whites, a shake, and strong arms. LOL. It's a completely fun tool.
The second chosen cocktail link is the International Bartenders Association (IBA) site. The International Bartenders Association was established in February 1951 in Torquay, UK. There were seven founding members or guilds, Denmark, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Today there are 64 member countries.
The IBA has a bartending academy. Among their stated goals are: "To combat the continued growth of the bar industry and the never ending need for a well equipped and talented bartenders." and "Our aim is to elevate the overall consistency, professionalism, and knowledge of bartenders world wide."
While this site may not have as many cool links and portals to investigate as Difford's, it is still a font of cocktail information. The recipes on their site are excellent.
We hope you'll enjoy these links as much as we think you will. These combined with the two food looks should be able to help anyone create the perfect meal along with perfect cocktail. Share with your friends. Subscribe to our site. Like us on Facebook and Instagram. More content is always just around the corner.
Cheers!
